These Terms & Conditions govern the services provided by Serenity Smart Homes ("I," "my," or "me"), a home safety and smart home consultancy in Cherry Hill, NJ, led by Ashley Williams. By booking a service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
1. Services I Offer
Serenity Smart Homes is a consultancy. I assess, recommend, and coordinate referrals. I do not perform construction, installation labor, or clinical evaluations. The current service catalog includes:
- Free 30-Minute Discovery Call – A fit-check conversation to determine whether the Home Safety and Technology Assessment is the right next step for your household. No obligation to book.
- Home Safety and Technology Assessment – The flagship service, offered in six tracks:
- Planning Ahead (Living-in-Place): $375
- Neurodivergent Household: $475 (includes 30-day check-in call)
- Neurodivergent with Child Safety: $575 (includes 30-day check-in call)
- Multigenerational: $625 (includes 30-day check-in call)
- Remote Safety Snapshot: $295
- Accessible Vacation Rental Audit: $495
- Reassessments – Available at 75% of the current posted rate for the relevant track.
Each track produces a written, prioritized report and a report review call. Specific scope and inclusions for each track are described on the corresponding service page.
2. Booking and Scheduling
2.1 Discovery Call
- The free 30-minute discovery call is booked through the scheduling link on this site.
- A pre-call intake survey is sent automatically once you book.
- The intake survey must be completed at least 24 hours before the call. If it is not, I will reach out to reschedule the call to a time after I have read your responses, rather than meet without context.
2.2 Assessment Booking
- If the discovery call confirms fit, you may book the assessment for a date that works for both of us.
- Once booked, you will receive a detailed pre-visit intake form covering household context, daily routines, sensory profiles, existing technology, and what prompted you to reach out.
- The pre-visit intake should be completed at least 48 business hours before the assessment visit so I can prepare.
- For in-person assessments, the client is expected to be present at the home and to walk through it with me. The Remote Safety Snapshot is the only track conducted without an in-person presence.
2.3 Rescheduling
- Appointments may be rescheduled with at least 48 hours' advance notice at no charge.
- Cancellations or rescheduling requests with less than 48 hours' notice may result in a rescheduling fee or forfeiture of a portion of the assessment fee, at my discretion.
- I will make reasonable accommodation for emergencies or unforeseen circumstances.
3. Pricing, Payment, and Travel Surcharges
3.1 Pricing
- All prices are listed in U.S. Dollars (USD) and are flat-rate by track.
- Prices are subject to change without notice, but confirmed bookings will be honored at the rate in effect at the time of booking.
3.2 Payment
- A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to reserve a date on the assessment schedule.
- The remaining balance is due at report completion, which is within 5 business days of the assessment visit.
- Travel surcharges, where applicable, are included in the total fee and split proportionally across the deposit and balance.
- Payment is processed through Stripe.
3.3 Travel Surcharges
In-person assessments are available throughout South Jersey, Southeastern Pennsylvania, and Northern Delaware. Travel surcharges apply by distance from Cherry Hill, NJ:
- Within 10 miles (NJ only): no surcharge
- 11–20 miles (NJ only): $30
- Philadelphia proper: $50
- Within 35 miles including PA and DE: $80
- Beyond 35 miles: $100
- Shore Points: $125
Travel surcharges are confirmed on the discovery call and added at the time of booking. The Remote Safety Snapshot has no travel component.
4. Cancellation and Refunds
4.1 Discovery Call
The discovery call is free and carries no refund implications. If you cannot make a scheduled discovery call, please reschedule through the link in your confirmation email.
4.2 Assessment Cancellation by You
- If you cancel more than 7 days before the assessment date, you will receive a full refund of the deposit.
- If you cancel between 48 hours and 7 days before the assessment date, you will receive a 50% refund of the deposit.
- If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, or do not appear for the scheduled appointment, the deposit is forfeited.
- Refunds are processed within 7 to 10 business days of cancellation.
4.3 Assessment Cancellation by Me
If I need to cancel a scheduled assessment, you will receive either a full refund of any amounts paid or a rescheduled appointment at no charge, at your option.
5. Reassessments
- Reassessments are available at 75% of the current posted rate for the relevant track.
- Every report includes a "trigger list" naming the kinds of life changes that warrant another walkthrough (a health event, a family member moving in, completion of a significant home modification).
- Travel surcharges, where applicable, are recalculated at the time of the reassessment booking.
6. Deliverables and Intellectual Property
- The written report, the plain-language summary page, the trigger list, and any reference materials I provide remain your property to use for your household, your contractors, your clinicians, and your caregivers.
- You may not resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit any deliverables I provide without my prior written permission.
- The assessment instrument itself, my professional methodology, and any internal tools or templates remain my intellectual property.
- Photographs taken during an assessment are used only to inform the report unless you have given written consent for other use.
7. Scope and Limitations
- I am a consultant. I am not a contractor, an integrator, a physician, an occupational therapist, or a physical therapist.
- I do not make clinical diagnoses. Where a clinical evaluation is needed, I flag that as a referral in the report.
- I do not perform construction work. Recommendations involving physical modification are intended for execution by a licensed contractor of your choice.
- I do not perform installation labor. Where a recommendation involves a smart home device or system, you may execute it yourself or engage an installer of your choice.
- Where I make referrals to other professionals, I do so based on my professional judgment about fit. The decision to engage any referred professional is yours, and the relationship is between you and them.
8. Privacy and Data
- Information you share during intake, the assessment, and the report review call is treated as confidential and used only to deliver the service.
- I do not sell or share your personal data with any third party for their marketing purposes.
- Smart home technology recommendations default to local control and privacy-first architecture, with no cloud dependency for safety-critical functions and no required subscriptions.
- For full details on the data the website collects, see the Privacy Policy.
9. Limitation of Liability
- The Home Safety and Technology Assessment provides recommendations based on professional frameworks (CLIPP, CAPS, SHSS) and on my professional judgment. It is advisory.
- Final decisions about whether to act on any recommendation are yours.
- I am not liable for outcomes resulting from your implementation of the recommendations, work performed by contractors or other professionals you engage, or decisions made about the home or its occupants.
- I am not liable for damages, losses, injuries, or insurance outcomes resulting from any change you choose to make based on the report.
- Smart home technology enhances, but does not replace, common-sense safety practices, professional medical care, or comprehensive insurance.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, I disclaim liability for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from my services.
- My total liability for any claim related to my services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service in question.
10. Changes to These Terms
- I may modify these terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page.
- Significant changes will be communicated to active clients via email when practical.
- Confirmed bookings will be honored under the terms in effect at the time of booking.
11. Governing Law
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to conflict of law principles.
- Any dispute arising from these terms or my services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts located in New Jersey.
- I encourage you to contact me directly to resolve any concern before pursuing formal dispute resolution.
